2004 August 15: Like a sea of ants
This morning, not long after dawn, the lake looked like it was crawling with ants. It took me a few seconds to realise they were geese on their way somewhere, flying only a metre or so above the water. And there were many, many thousands of them.
This afternoon they flew back, in groups of about a hundred, most of them well above the water. Maybe practising for the trip down south?
